Descending
Descending with confidence demands a proper body position for braking; turning and shock absorption, position your body to act as a suspension system.Starting in the attack position bend out the waist knees and elbows so legs and arms can act as shock absorbers. Get your weight back as the grade get steeper, moving back focusing the weight on your feet, keeps your weight centered between the tires, this stance would give you confidence and stability, you won’t get bounced around, and you would be positioned to counteract braking forces, and un-weight the front wheels so it can it can lower over obstacles. It sounds counter intuitive, but an important thing to remember on descends is to relax, try to be fluent with your movements, if you are relaxed, with your knees and arms bend, you help the tires stay in contact with the ground for more control of braking traction.

22:41
Keep a firm grip with your hands, but make sure muscle tension does not extend up your arms. If your legs and arms are rigid you transmit more shock to the rest of your body. You can’t think or see clearly if you are being rattled around. In the rough sections you can’t have your butt in the saddle because you get bounced up and forward, if you are getting bounced around, you won’t feel stable enough to ride faster. Stand up on the pedals, allowing your bike flowing around beneath you. Your bike will handle very differently, when you clamp your seat between your thighs as compared when you ride slowly slightly bow legged. Riding in open stance with your knees out allows the saddle to flow around more, you can wrestle the seat against your thighs, the rougher the terrain the more you would want the bike flow, train your vision patterns to pick the best lines, focus on where you want the bike to go, not where you afraid you will end up. Scan the trail ahead of you, looking up the trial and back, the faster you go the farther out front and more often you need to scan.

23:50
Look to brake on smooth sections, where there is better or at least predictable traction it is more effective to slow down to the appropriate speed and then release the brakes to let the bike roll over an obstacle. Here is a kind of a tricky downhill what you do with your front break is that have a lot to do with how much control you have what I like to do when I come over there is not beyond the brakes when I am dropping over the ledges, but looking for a place where I can get good braking traction after I come off of it. Here is some dirt that is pretty slippery to get on the front brake hard in these places but for instance here is a rock that is going to provide good traction. So I might be of the brake when I come over the ledge and on the brake on this rock when I get some good traction and then and then off when the traction is a kind of loose, and definitely off the brake when I come down at this corner and I going to make a direction change, so my front wheel can roll fluently with traction. Braking transmit shocks through your body, so you have the opportunity especially on long descends, relax your braking fingers, this allows your arm muscles to recover, even slight pressure on the brake levers, keep those muscles tense you can hear your levers click out and release them fully. To minimize shocks through your body is to maximize control, you don’t want either wheel to lock up and stop turning a locked up wheel drags across the ground, slamming into rocks instead of rolling over them, this is a perfect scenario to lose control or to get a flat. Ride light with you weight centered between the tires, rather than crushing the tires on terrain obstacles.

My frequent riding partner and fellow pro-racer Daryl Price, shines when it comes to floating over rocks he said. How do you describe getting through a section where there serious sharp rocks in a row?
Ok, the easiest way to do that is to center your weight over the two contact patches of the wheels, and that means almost directly or a little bit forward of the bottom bracket and with front suspension needs a couple to almost 3 inches more front travel, and mostly the sharp rocks going to give you a rear flat.
[em07]
