Auld Lang Syne是苏格兰方言，相当于现代标准英语的“old long since” 或"times gone by"，即“昔日” 或"times gone by"之意。它源出于十八世纪苏格兰杰出的民族诗人罗伯特·彭斯Robert Burns的一首同名抒情诗“友谊地久天长”是一首非常出名的诗歌。
Auld Lang Syne这首诗后来被谱了乐曲，除了原苏格兰原文外，这首歌亦被多国谱上当地语言，在中国各地普遍称为友谊万岁。人们通常可以哼出歌曲的旋律，但大部份人只可唱出歌词的一小段。在很多西方国家，这首歌通常会在除夕夜演唱，有除旧迎新之意，也象征告别或结束的情感。在经典电影“魂断蓝桥”中，此曲被用作为主旋律。
